El Este, kicked off the new season with a hard fought win against the...Virgins Of Flower Mountain. Not too sure how they got their name, but they definitely looked like they've been around. They were a young team, full of energy and running and yes, come with a bit of skill as well. El Este, looked sluggish at the start and VFM asked most of the questions in the first 15 mins, until Tim broke free off a flat defence line to open the scoring. VFM replied immediately when a loose ball was not cleared by El Este defence and being at least 10 years younger on average, capitalise with their speed to equalise. Tim's strike partner showed abit of skills up front and found himself dribbling his way into their penalty box on numerous occasions only to have the keeper thwarting his chances. Tim chose the most direct route and rewarded himself with 2 well taken goals, giving some breating space for the rest of the boys in stripes as it was definitely tough handling the youngsters.
HT 3-1.
The second half started with VFM throwing everything at EL Este and came close on numerous occasions, including a couple of one to ones. Halfway through the second half, EL Este, sat back abit more, and deployed a 5-3-2 to pack the defence and got their two strikers, who were creating havoc, man - marked. Daniel and Keong, had their works cut out for them in the middle of the park as they found very little time and space to play our usual football. In one of their attacks and another mix up in defence, El Este found themselves now leading by only one goal, as VFM pulled a goal back. With that, they started throwing everything into attack and the back line of EE found their backs against the wall. With VFM pushing up their lines and El Este just clearing anywhere, the latter managed to sneak in a goal to have the game done and dusted. Again, Tim latched on to a well cleared ball that floated above their defence and with a defender hot on his heels, turned the keeper and cooly slotted for his and El Este's fourth goal.
